 ****100 WORDS MIN EACH*****

1.  The piece that I will be reviewing is Haydn’s, “Symphony No. 94 in G major” (“The Surprise Symphony”). As I took the time to listen to all the compositions we were provided, this one seemed to be the one that I really liked. Joseph Haydn could be deemed as the ultimate philosopher of music. Not only would I consider “Symphony No. 94 in G major” (“The Surprise Symphony”) a masterpiece, I would also say that when listening to it, that it was purely aesthetic to the human ear. As I played the composition for the third time, I thought to myself, “how could someone in the 1700’s grant music so much creativity.” All of Haydn’s compositions contains a timbre that seemed only worthy to be performed in front of the members of the aristocracy. It was not until the age of 20 when Haydn began to self-educate himself on the basics of music such as symphonies, musical variations, and the theory conducting a concert. He was mainly infamous for his multitude of string quartets. I feel as though “Symphony No. 94 in G major” (“The Surprise Symphony”) is a composition that would be performed at celebration mainly due to the fact that as I listened to it, it brought great embellishment to my spirit. Haydn’s work is far from the work of Mozart due to the fact that all of his compositions are ruled as happy and playful whereas Mozart’s compositions are meant to be performed at a king’s requiem. Haydn was ahead of his time when it came to performing and attaining structure of music. Overall, he will always remain one of the greatest of the Classical Era and his work is continually performed by modern day composers.

2.  Of course, these musical selections included violins but my favorite thing to hear was the piano. When looking it up on YouTube, there were many concerts that popped up as though the two pieces by him are very popular. For the first the second movement the tempo was more subtle and remained calm. I listed to one concert that was in America, Texas to be exact  For  the third movement it was very upbeat and a distinct variation change. I enjoyed the theme of the third movement alot more than the second. For some reason classical music always reminds me of my ballet dances and makes me want to get my bar and point my feet.

Overall there was a recapitulation in both movements, being that the piano was the main sound. If I had to chose an instrument that I have always wanted to learn it would be the piano. Of course the musical form of classic music remained the same and there is no doubt that he was still one of the basic classical composers at the time.
