Essay (please be brief in stating your points succinctly, but yet be thorough)
Criminal justice organizations in many cases, like the U.S. Military, are viewed by some citizens and certain politicians as an area of public service in which social experimentation and/or political points for constituency groups can be scored as well as mild attempts at political patronage. Criminal justice administrators should always be aware of issues of diversity in the work place as well as any changes in trending demographics that may have a major impact on the culture of the community. With this in mind please write on the issues of workplace diversity and community culture. Why these are important to a leader? How they can impact the manner in which a criminal justice administrator leads his/her organization through the potential mazes of this ever changing topic. How do they relate to potential discrimination complaints in hiring and promoting qualified personnel in the workplace? What are the best practices to lower the risk of discrimination complaints of this type?
Some issues in the workplace are racial tension, favoritism, prejudices, culture and ethnic differences. These are important to a leader because he/she needs to know how to handle the challenges/conflicts that may arise from these issues. They can impact the manner of administration because it will cause employees to be resistant to what they are asked, they will lose respect for that supervisor, and begin breaking the chain of command, it will also cause the organization to have a huge turnover rate. They relate because if one race feels inferior they will less likely be promoted or they will not apply for the organization at all because of what they have heard. The best way to lower the risk of discrimination or complaints of this type. Is there isn’t really a way to lower because people are going to feel how they are going to feel about a particular race or sex. Only solution I see is to for actions of reprimand to be taken if the complaints are a constant with a particular leader/supervisor.
