What do you know about the major founding fathers? There are so many founding fathers that often times we cannot cover all of them in a US history class.
Section A: Please look up a minimum of 3 founding fathers listed below and do a little research. Share with the class at least 3 new things you learned for each one. Please include the website or book where you got your information so that others can also look at the information.
*Note: Look at sites other than Wikipedia! Try to find more legitimate sites such as Encyclopedia Britannica, Encarta, etc. Or click on Richland Library link: http://www.richlandcollege.edu/library/ and click on Databases to look at online history databases (requires your student ID number to access).
Select 3 of the following Founding Fathers to Research:
Samuel Adams
John Hancock
George Washington
John Adams
Thomas Jefferson
Patrick Henry
James Madison
Alexander Hamilton
Benjamin Franklin

Section B: How does Shays Rebellion demonstrate problems with the Articles of Confederation? Why was a revision of this document necessary? What are three new things you learned from the American Yawp textbook? What are three new things you learned from the video that you did not already know? (Please do NOT merely list what you learned, discuss in paragraph format).
Section C: Questions from Zinn: Below are 4 questions based on the readings in Chapter 05: A Kind of Revolution. Please pick 2 of the 4 questions to answer. Please write 1-2 fully developed paragraphs for each question and cite specific answers from the chapter itself. (Please indicate which two questions are planning to answer):
Question #01: Select one of the choices below and defend your choice with details from the chapter.
The U.S. Constitution was:
a. “a work of genius put together by wise, humane men who created a legal framework for democracy and equality.”
b. A work of genius put together by rich men to benefit their economic interests.
c. A work of genius which balances the interests of slaves, indentured servants, women, men without property, and men with property.
d. A compromise between slave holding interests of the South and monied interests of the North.
e. All of the above.
Question #02: Explain the difference between Jefferson’s and Hamilton’s attitudes toward popular participation in the decisions-making process. If one were to look only at Federalist Paper #10, does Madison agree with Hamilton or Jefferson on this issue?
Question #03: Many historians argue that the U. S. Constitution creates a neutral, level playing field on which contestants prove their worth (that any inequality in wealth is not due to unfair rules but to unequal abilities). For what reason does Zinn disagree with this interpretation?
Question #04: Why did Congress pass the Whiskey Tax? How did small farmers who manufactured whiskey respond? What is the differences between the means by which Shays’ Rebellion was defeated and the Whiskey Rebellion was defeated? What is the significance of the answer to the previous question?
