A major concern is the application of copyrights not only to those who are new to the business world but particularly to professionals in business communication. In this work, will talk about technology as machinery for fighting and detecting internet plagiarism, viewing its impact on high-quality education, and other essentials. The authors suggest various ways in which instructors can prevent plagiarism in their classrooms, with an emphasis on the IT scope as a technique that, when well incorporated, can add value to the instruction provided to students. Clearly, the project advances my understanding of my field by showing where plagiarism is most exposed (Akbar & Picard, 2019).
It actually helps learning institutions understand challenges that hinder the advancement of serious study. One major way to leverage technology tools to detect plagiarism is to effectively implement a reliable plagiarism examination tool. A comparison of similarity between a given document and various other documents is what the sweetest of these scanners do. Safe assign and Turn tin are two popular scanning machine tools (Akbar & Picard, 2019).
The paper explains that teachers need to provide students with more information about plagiarism specifically and citation methods as a whole. They also demand to express more than once how dangerous plagiarism is and how it can result in serious consequences for potential careers. Teachers should show more student examples of what would be considered plagiarism to help decrease the amount of student confusion and to show that many students at all grade levels plagiarize. Another way it seeks to overcome plagiarism is by having lessons on plagiarism so as to inform the student on what it genuinely is and common reasons students resort to it when writing an essay (Alafnan et al., 2023).
A central idea presented by the article is the use of lesson objectives in forming assessments that require a unique and valuable display of a student’s knowledge on the topic and thus cannot be answered through senseless memorization, requiring real work and individual thought. Different strategies suggest specific aspects of teaching that can help in the prevention of plagiarism, and this document brings to light a lot of issues pertinent to teaching. The various ways to implement these measures in your classroom are concise and often call for efficient and effective teaching tools rather than a miracle-working rebirth of an under-funded school library and broad administrator intervention that would certainly stall the commencement of the project (Alafnan et al., 2023).

Plagiarism has been a growing topic especially for higher education. There are different aspects towards plagiarism – depending how people are educated on the topic, it can be intentional or unintentional. However either ways it is not something that we should tolerate and the problem cannot be ignored.
In the article “The use of technology to combat plagiarism in business communication classes” written by Robert H. Stowers and Julie Y. Hummel, they clearly highlighted examples of plagiarism, some of the reasoning behind, where the problem could come from, and what we can do to prevent it. The last part, how to prevent plagiarism, is obviously the most emphasized topic. While technology continues to develop, there are softwares that we can use to help track plagiarism, and preventing it from happening again. Some of the softwares include Turnitin and SafeAssign.
Personally, I had education until high school in Asia, and higher education here in the US. So I definitely know how differently those two education systems are towards citation. I can clearly see why a lot of people who just came to the US for collage might be confused about plagiarism, accidentally break the rule or fail to follow the proper format. However, I don’t think it is an excuse to why plagiarism is happening. I think it has been a topic that’s reinforced again and again in different classes, and there are complete guides to follow. Personally I am a user for Turnitin, and I felt it has helped me a lot in terms of keep tracking of my citations as well as making sure my intellectual ownership is protected. It always highlights the part that’s similar in another article, and that’s my opportunity to check whether I’ve properly cited the sources for them.
Another reason why plagiarism should not be tolerated is that if everyone is cheating over all their papers, what is the point of learning? And when everyone start to copy one another, it will greatly affect the learning process and environment. Cheating unfairly offers students an edge over their peers who put in the effort to complete their own work (Sen, 2023). This is not something you wanna see especially for education because that will hugely affect students’ passion, even willingness to learn. I also believe that if they didn’t learn properly and kept plagiarism as a common thing, it will affect their life after getting a job as well.
Alon Yamim, CEO and Co-Founder of Copyleaks also brought up a great point in his article “How plagiarism makes the literacy gap worse” that we need to encourage students and build their confidence to express their understanding of the material in their own words so we can better gauge their performance of the material (Yamin, 2022). Having software is a very helpful way to help students catch plagiarism early, but that’s for those people who decided not to cheat. Others might just be afraid to be caught so they won’t try. The core of the problem is to develop that healthy learning environment as well as encouragement. We all are learning, and even if you can’t get the best expression, that’s the learning curve and process.
