Respond to richard post | Criminal homework help

Hello class, Minnesota is the state that I will be looking into this is where I live. When I look at the violent crime data from 2022 in Minnesota it shows 280.6 compared to the United States average which is 380.7. The list of data only went back to 1985 and ended in 2022 for showing violent crime data in Minnesota. A pattern that I noticed was that the crime rate starts to go up every 12 or 13 years, and the worst year was 1994 with a violent crime rate of 359 while the nation’s average was 713.6. This data can be beneficial to law enforcement because they can get a general idea of when to start beefing up patrols, and if you scroll down there is other data that can give a better idea of when or where they may need more patrolling or camera surveillance. This data can give them an advantage in fighting crime and making neighborhoods safer for the community, they can also use this to make better programs to stop crime or have community involvement. The data is important to criminal justice professionals and gives them another tool to utilize in a society where criminal activity is constantly evolving, criminals will always find new ways to commit crimes but the law always has various techniques to stay ahead or at least keep up with the violent crimes that are inflicted on the city making places dangerous to live and raise a family.

In response to two of your peers, select peers who live in different states from yours. Compare and contrast your state’s violent crime rate data and trends to theirs. Consider the following questions for your response post:

  • Whose violent crime rate is higher or lower? Do you see any similar trends, such as years in which the violent crime rate spiked or was lower in either state?
  • In your opinion, what may cause higher or lower violent crime rates in either of your states?
  • Are there any other ways that this data could be used to address problems in criminal justice that weren’t mentioned in the initial post?
