Qualitative designs include narrative, phenomenology, grounded theory, case studies, and
ethnography. Phenomenological research examines human lives, and reality is subjective. It's
mostly used to understand things and study experiences beyond human awareness (Creswell &
Creswell, 2018). Grounded theory design is used to conceive, test, and redevelop proportions
until a theory is developed. Most often used to identify and solve social issues. The majority of
ethnography studies people's behaviors and social interactions. Despite its time commitment,
researchers can gain a deep insight into people's experiences, attitudes, and knowledge that shape
their culture and society due to its flexibility. The narrative design is the most potent qualitative
research technique because it exposes hidden behaviors, feelings, and motivations and can
illuminate cultural or social phenomena (Creswell & Creswell, 2018). Case study design focuses
on one situation, while narrative design explores multiple contexts. A theme is explored in
several contexts across time in narrative design. Furthermore, case studies are longer and more
detailed and rarely present a live narrative overview of the subject's life or experiences.
Apply the scientific method by selecting an appropriate qualitative research design and
methods that align with the provided research question.
The qualitative research question fits phenomenology. This approach assumes that audience
experience determines a thing that has an eternal essence. This approach involves recording and
analyzing the beliefs, feelings, and perceptions of the audience being studied. Therefore, the
researcher may think collecting data from homeless young adults may help answer the research
issue. Interviews involving audio and videotape and participant observation can acquire data.
Create a feasible research design including plans for the sample selection, data collection,
and data analysis.
Data was collected from twenty young adults who are homeless by conducting interviews with
them and observing them. A simple random sample method was used. With the use of inclusion
and exclusion criteria, an attempt to narrow the sample down to twelve from its current size of
twenty (Creswell & Creswell, 2018). Only people who have been homeless since birth and have
no other relatives will be considered for inclusion. This will be achievable because we will let
them share their own experiences about growing up on the streets through interviews. The data
that was collected will be analyzed using a method called theme analysis. The fact that each
participant will have a story to share was a primary factor that led to the decision to conduct an
overall study to classify the participants, the results of this study would be useful.
Explain how you would use reflexivity while planning and carrying out the research.
It will be helpful to attempt to reason with the participants on their level if you want to obtain
data from them that is credible and valid. Because I used to be homeless myself at one point in
my life, engaging in this type of reflexivity will make it easier for me to comprehend the research
and cut down on the number of preconceived notions and opinions I may have held in the past I
can honestly relate.
Apply ethical principles by explaining how this type of qualitative research design may
affect the participants in your study and how you will deal with ethical and sociocultural
issues.
From an ethical standpoint, engaging excessively with the participants to gain a deeper
understanding of them would infringe upon their right to privacy. Maintaining the confidentiality
of the collected data would be of utmost importance in addressing this matter. Furthermore,
given that the data collection process employs random sampling, there is a possibility that the
questions posed may inadvertently touch upon sensitive social or cultural topics, perhaps leading
to offense.

narrative - researchers studies the lives of individuals by asking for stories about their lives
(Creswell,J.W. ,Creswell,J. D,2018) interviewing the homeless young adults, getting their stories
to use as part of your research.
phenomenology- interviewing families of young homeless adults, to make a clear understanding
of what lead to homelessness. Looking for patterns or connections.
ethnography- observing a group of the participants in their own environment for a period time
allow you to collect data by observing and interviewing.
case study- this design would allow researchers to collect data from participants through
participating in programs or activities over a period of time.
grounded theory- for the research this design would be the most appropriate for the studying of
the young homeless adult population. This design is systematic. allowing the researchers to form
a hypothesis and theories by collecting data.

A grounded Theory- The goal is to develop a theory of the experience of the homeless young
adults in rural areas in the U.S. The methods that align with the research would be natural
setting, collecting data from the young in their environment, where the participants experience
their issues. allowing researcher to observe natural reactions. Multiple sources of data: this
method allows for interviews and observations. allowing research to collect data to form
hypotheses and theories of what the experience is and look at patterns that cause the
homelessness.

years old, both male and female, living homeless in rural areas. the idea behind qualitative
research is to purposefully select participants that will best help researchers to understand the

environment. conducting interviews of participants and other family members in order to get an
understanding of patterns or other attributing factors that could have led to their experience.

reflexivity could be used by including past experiences with some the participants had
experiences during prior studies. researchers may have used a different approach. They may have
not included the participates emotions during the data collection process. making sure
researchers use the experiences from the past to enhance their process.

Ethical principles: Informed Consent to research, Institutional approval, informed consent for
recording voices and images in research, dispensing with informed consent for research. Offering

offering the participants resources to help improve some of their issues, for example, if through
the research, patterns are notice that could be improved with referrals to other services. This
type of result has the potential to cause positive effects on participants Could open up the need
for more or better resources for young homeless adults in rural areas. I would provide resources
that could help improve any sociocultural issues, for example, providing materials on educational
classes or resources for jobs could improve the circumstances of the participants. as making sure
all involvement follows ethical guidelines.
