The topic must be related to trends/current events impacting education or human services organizations.
Submit a problem for your topic by addressing the specific criteria listed below.
· Begin by setting up your paper in
APA format. Be sure to use a
heading for each of the sections in the assignment. Your submission should include: (Part A) Introduction, Rationale, and (Part B) the Problem.
· Create a
title page using the format provided in the syllabus Appendix A.
· Be sure that the organization, community and/or school remain anonymous. Use
pseudonyms for both the community and the organization and also for their citations and references. Under the references, you may use the phrase “name withheld to protect anonymity” in lieu of the reference source (e.g., website link).
· Identify the “
problem”. The problem statement provides a clear and concise description of the issues that need to be addressed. A well-constructed problem statement will convince your audience that the problem is real and worth having you investigate. Your strategy is one of contrast: by situating the ideal scenario next to the situation as it exists, you can not only persuade the reader that a problem exists but then go on to emphasize the consequences of ignoring or addressing the problem.
Problem (Example)
[IDEAL SCENARIO] In order to continue the fifty-year tradition of pacifist values, Alfred Academy’s administration needs a multifaceted mediation program that includes the administration, the faculty, the students, and the students’ parents.
[CURRENT SCENARIO] Currently, Alfred has three mediation, i.e., problem-solving, resources: (1) an unofficial peer mediation group, (2) an unofficial student court, and (3) a lecture program entitled Peaces. Unfortunately, at the present time, only one of those three methods are being utilized: lectures. Neither the peer mediation group nor the student court are legally certified and are, therefore, not credible resources and remain unused.
[POTENTIAL CONSEQUENCES] Without an effective mediation program to help Alfred Academy achieve its educational goals, violence will continue to escalate. A new, interactive approach to non-violent problem solving is needed.
·
Cite and reference your work as appropriate. Remember to use pseudonyms when citing and referencing information in the context section so that your community, organization, and/or school remain anonymous.
NOTE: Be sure to include a reference list following APA 7th edition format guidelines.
