Must Read Everything:

Reply to at least two classmate’s posts, applying the RISE Model for Meaningful Feedback

I will also show an example below of how the response needs to be addressed.

Here’s an example of how the response should look. Please don’t copy it.

The response to the classmate need to be just like this.

Example Response (Response Needs to be writen just like the response below No copying)

RISE Feedback:

REFLECT: I concur with “Action plans should reflect the type of services that are needed and have an idea of the expected outcome of the services” because it is in line with Hatch and Hartline’s intentional school counseling guidelines in regards to determining students needs.

INQUIRE: Can you further explain what “closing-the-gap action plans” are?

SUGGEST: I encourage you to revisit Hatch and Hartline’s MTMDSS tier interventions in order to add a citation that would illustrate your example on bullying prevention efforts.

ELEVATE: What if you re-purposed “For example, after a needs assessment, the school is having problems with bullying” as “Following Trish Hatch’s MTMDSS tier based interventions, if the school is having problems with bullying, after a needs assessment, we could… citation…”  for a more weighted argument?

Describe experiences related to any of the following:  (9) research and/or technology.

This week is my last at the Elementary School, but before I left, we went over the Panorama (SEL SCREENER) results for students. The results were looked at reviewed by the school counselors and admin to come up with the school counseling goals for the year. Based on the results we decided that we would put together groups for attendance, improving attendance is a districtwide goal. I will likely go back a few times to do some these groups. Lessons will be preprepared for all grade levels on Emotional regulation since only 49% of students stated they could emotionally regulate and Self- Efficacy since 51% of students stated that they could self-advocate. The other areas that are looked at through Panorama are Self-management and Social Awareness. I’m excited to see the results of the survey for the spring, hopefully the scores will increase.

K.    Describe your experiences with impacting climate in your school environment.

According to the National School Climate Center, “School climate refers to the quality and character of school life. School climate is based on patterns of students’, parents’ and school personnel’s experience of school life and reflects norms, goals, values, interpersonal relationships, teaching and learning practices, and organizational structures” (NSCC, n.d.). Everyone on the campus should have some hand in creating the a safe space between students, staff, community, and other stakeholders. As an aspiring school counselor, I am learning the importance of school climate, as well as how to positively contribute to the process. Working at a middle/high school, I have payed particular attention to the way the older students treat the incoming 6th grade middle students. It is my job to ensure that the younger students are treated with respect. One of the programs that facilitates a positive school climate is our  peer to peer mentoring program, called Big Brother/Big Sister. Our older students take the time to engage with younger students to make them feel safer. As of last week, I supervise the meetings between the Big Brother/Sisters and the younger students. I believe this is one of the best programs to create a positive school climate because our rules dictate that mentors must be intentional on reaching out to young people who look differently than them.  I have seen so much positivity on our campus since the focus of school climate has been emphasized.  I believe that as an individual, I have encouraged and tried to help foster new relationships between our students through peer/peer mentoring.  I can see the progress of positive interactions between students, staff and others. Helping to “grow” relationships is just one aspect of school climate. When I supervise a meeting I make sure to be as warm and friendly to the student as I can. School climate is about building relationships through social/emotional means. I can play a part by letting all students know that being kind is a great way to make the campus a safe and enjoyable space.
