Reply to at least two classmate’s posts, applying the RISE Model for Meaningful Feedback
I will also show an example below of how the response needs to be addressed.
Here’s an example of how the response should look. Please don’t copy it.
The response to the classmate need to be just like this.
Example Response (Response Needs to be writen just like the response below No copying)
RISE Feedback:
REFLECT: I concur with “Action plans should reflect the type of services that are needed and have an idea of the expected outcome of the services” because it is in line with Hatch and Hartline’s intentional school counseling guidelines in regards to determining students needs.
INQUIRE: Can you further explain what “closing-the-gap action plans” are?
SUGGEST: I encourage you to revisit Hatch and Hartline’s MTMDSS tier interventions in order to add a citation that would illustrate your example on bullying prevention efforts.
ELEVATE: What if you re-purposed “For example, after a needs assessment, the school is having problems with bullying” as “Following Trish Hatch’s MTMDSS tier based interventions, if the school is having problems with bullying, after a needs assessment, we could… citation…” for a more weighted argument?

Response 1- Alejandra
I’ve always thought of school counselors as advocates for students. In the context of students with IEPs, school counselors can advocate for the needs of students on their caseloads to make sure that they are reaching their full potential. School counselors help foster academic and social emotional skills for students and support them in their overall growth. We can do this by pushing into classes and delivering evidence-based curriculum such as Teen Mental Health First Aid or Second Step, and doing one-on-one check-ins with students on our caseload.
One accommodation/modification I can think of after reviewing the IEP is technology that can read passages to the student. The IEP mentions that the student has trouble reading and trouble pronouncing certain words. Although I can see how this technology may potentially impede the student from learning to read in their head, it may be beneficial for the student to hear how words are pronounced.

Response 2- Claudia
What is the role of the School Counselor in supporting student academic and social emotional achievement?
As is stated by ASCA, “School counselors deliver school counseling programs that enhance student growth in three domain areas: academic, career, and social/emotional development. As a part of that program, school counselors implement strategies and activities to help all students enhance their academic development – the mindsets and behaviors students need to maximize their ability to learn – while recognizing that growth in all three domains is necessary for students to be successful now and later in life.” School counseling programs use data and data disaggregation to understand student needs and provide appropriate interventions. School counselors advocate and work to remove systemic barriers to ensure all students have the opportunity to achieve their academic goals at all grade levels reflecting their abilities and academic interests (The School Counselor and Academic Development – American School Counselor Association (ASCA), 2017).
Based on the students’ present levels, would you consider any other accommodation or modifications? Why or why not?
After a review of the IEP, I would not implement any accommodations or modifications for the student in the classroom. I would, however, recommend that the student attend small group social skills lessons. As the student has ADHD and can have difficulty when engaging with peers, I would also recommend that the student be enrolled in an extracurricular activity (either an independent sport or active group sport). There are many sports that have been modified for students with special learning and physical requirements. Modifications in sports allows students with varying abilities to actively participate and experience the benefits of physical activity. (APENS Home, n.d.). The NCPEID developed the Adapted Physical Education National Standards (APENS) to establish and maintain a body of knowledge that physical education teachers should know to deliver quality adapted physical education services.
