The discussion assignment for this week includes a review of your fellow classmates' research questions for their topic, survey questions, and hypothesis or statement of the problem for the research question. Review at least 1 student and provide feedback on what was done well and possible areas of improvement.

Last week you presented your research topic and shared ethical considerations for your selected topic. In developing your plan for the Unit 4 Individual Project, there are additional considerations such as the survey questions that will gather the information needed to complete your research study. There are two types of research questions- qualitative and quantitative.

Qualitative research questions are about human perceptions, descriptions, stories, or lived experiences. For example, do ABC IT employees assigned as full-time prefer to work remotely or to work in the office?

Quantitative research questions are numbers-based. For example, how does the amount of news intake correlate to anxiety levels?

Building on your research topic identified in the Unit 2 discussion board complete the following:

• Identify your research method (i.e., qualitative or quantitative), and write 1 research question regarding that topic in preparation for the assignment in Unit 4.
• Based on your chosen research method, write your hypothesis or statement of the problem for your research question.
• Based on your chosen research method, create 3–5 survey or interview questions that could help answer your research question.

Stress can affect the physical and mental health of nurses, which unfortunately can overflow into patient outcomes. It also undermines nursing retention and can hurt a healthcare organization’s finances (Morris, 2023).

Managing stress as a nurse is critical as it causes burnout and can lead not only to physical and mental health issues for nurses but also to increased likelihood of medical mistakes.

Long working hours are definitely one of the reasons why nurses have high stress levels. It is important for nurses to take breaks during a 12 or 16 hour shift. When I started out, I often skipped breaks and just ate something quickly on the run because I felt I would fall too much behind with my workload or I didn’t want to leave my unit in case something happened with a patient. I have learned the importance of taking breaks no matter how busy my day is. After I step away and take a 30 minute break, preferably sit in a natural environment and listen to birds, eat without rushing, catch up with family on the phone, I come back refreshed and am able to finish my job more efficiently. Taking a break also helps me manage my time better. Time management means to optimally use the time available and that includes aspects of planning, goal setting, prioritizing goals and activities, communications and delegation  (Marquis & Finkelman, 2017). Time management is still something I do struggle with, especially the aspect of communication and delegation. I find myself often doing tasks that I could delegate and then get overwhelmed or am not finished with my work at the end of the day and have to stay late. I know that delegation is something I personally need to work on, building a good relationship with co-workers and aids is key as well as good communication skills.
